Fun trip to Utah Aug 29 - Sept 4, 2012

I had the priviledge of flying to Utah this past week for several Marsh Morford events.

On Thursday evening the 29th of August, we attended a BYU-Washington State foot ball game.  BYU won 30 - 3, I believe.

Then on Friday morning Alisa took me and the two little ones to Benjamin Park for a get together with other home school mothers while the older children were at an Academy.

On Saturday morning, chores took up much of the time and in the late afternoon Lasangia was created to cook while we attended the baptism of Nastia and Ruslan.  They had been taking the missionary discussions for the last month and were now ready for their next journey.  The extended family that resided in Utah came to witness the ordinance and then dinner and games.

Sunday at church the two children were confirmed (of course the baptism and confirmation were in Russian with Marsh performing the priesthood ordinance.)

Monday saw us adventuring to the mountains for a small time of river activity.  Ruslan and Nastia were estatic.
After that we dressed in our church clothes, prepared sack lunches, mounted the 15 passenger van, and drove for 2 hours to Brigham City for the Temple Open House.  It took at lease an hour of slowly walking in the sun around the temple block with hundreds of others before we entered the temple area for the explaination video.
In complete silence we entered the temple proper and admired the workmanship, ordinance rooms, baptismal faunt, and and peach motif of this the newest temple.  Alisa wanted these newly baptized children to have an understanding of what a temple was so that in 2 weeks, they will join many baptized Utahans and attend the dedication in their designated areas.

Heather

Heather is frosting Chocolate Eclairs for a wedding recption that Holly was partially in charge of.

                                                                    Hunter and Nathan
These adventuresome boys went fishing at the local creek about 1/4th of a mile west of me with a hook and line they found.  Look what they caught!

                                                                            Haley

Haley is making frozen Red and Black Raspberry/huckleberry jam for her to take to college!  I was going to take two jars to my son and daughter on a trip to Utah, but just before arriving at the airport, I found out from my friend, Len, as he was driving me, that I could NOT take them in my carry-ons!    What a bummer for me, but he was very gleeful because he got to keep and eat them!  He better give me back the jars!

Hunter the survivor

Hunter is building a raft out of sticks he found and some of my red bailing twine I brought from Idaho.  I need to teach him proper wraping and fraping!

Content dog

My friend, King, takes his dog, BO, with him around Fairfield.  The dog is quite the content, happy passenger.  I took this in August\, 2012

The Young and the Old

Fawn in my front yard

I often find deer in my front yard, luckily not in the back fenced-in garden area!  Also, as we walk around in the mornings, beautiful groups of deer can be seen amongst the trees in the lovely golfcourse.

                                                                     15 August 2012
I am now 73 years old! Or is it YOUNGEven though I have felt that I do NOT need to celebrate any more birthdays, friends and family felt differently.  I guess they are celebrating that I MADE it another year!  Here are cards and gifts from them:  flowers, candy, book, bird-measuring spoons, and even a painted egg from the Ukraine.
The stuffed dogs are huskies that I have had for years, but they make a nice centerpiece.  :o)

My children did wonderful things for me:  You are very old!   But, that also means you are very experienced.
You have figured many things out, like...    The best way to keep a new hairdo out of the rain, and...
The tactical methods of performing citizens arrests, and...    Innovative ways to perform CPR on kittens, and...
The stealthy skill of attracting younger, unsuspecting men to drive you around on their motorcycles, and...
Various other and sundry ways of dealing with the greater world around you.    Just gotta smile when I think about my mom.     You're great.   Happy Birthday!!!     Love, Marsh
AMEN!   Happy Birthday mom!   Andy
I second the amen! Happy bday mom.  I think marsh you should write a movie it a series called crazy Jane in or crazy Jane as  Amie
Cat texted the following:  Happy birthday!  I love you Grandma!!   I’m truly blessed to have you in my life!!  Love the summers at your house and can’t wait for the next!  You are my role model and inspiration!! Lots of love from your #1 fan!
Quentin called and left a message of  love.

Two friends, Eileen and Marlin, took me out for a Chines lunch.  In case you forgot what I look like, I am in the middle!

Later that day, my friend, King, and I motorcycled around the area and stopped for yogurt.  We celebrated both of our birthdays, his is on the 14th.  King lives about 1/4 mile to the west and is a nice neighbor who walks his dog and sometimes I go along.  I saw a coyote on our trip in the Suisun area.

When Brian and Amie Radford came for their kids, they brought Cat's friend, Allie with them.  Heather joined in and they all had great fun

The three eat corn from Larry's open market on Suisun Road.  We also had chicken roasted with Orange peppers that Amie cooked.  Add that to the wonderful fruit avilable and all was very tasty!

Always, kids have gone to my closets looking for dress-up clothes, and it is no different here in California!  Heather, 14, is dressed in one of the dresses that her own mother wore to a ward dance party in Rexburg when Holly was about 12.  Allie has on a crazy outfit matching her personality, and Cat is in a "Little red Ridinghood" outfit.
